To meet global climate targets and decarbonize the transport sector, more investments in affordable and accessible clean technologies are needed. Emissions from road transport need to fall by one-third until 2030 to achieve a net zero scenario. By reducing the dependence on fossil fuels, the sector can shift towards a just mobility system.
Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) sales are booming, rapidly scaling electric two and three wheelers, cars and vans across markets. Aviation, heavy-trucking and maritime are in the emerging phase of their S-Curve transitions.
By 2030, we must shift Global Aviation and Maritime Shipping to sustainable, zero emission fuels.
We must continue to electrify all Land Transport across vehicles (2/3 wheelers, cars & vans, buses and heavy-duty trucks) and rail systems. We must also leverage operational efficiencies across all modes, manage demand and increase the resilience of transport infrastructure networks and operations. Finally, we must shift to public, shared and non-motorized transport where possible.
