To meet global climate targets and decarbonize the transport sector, more investments in affordable and accessible clean technologies are needed. Emissions from road transport need to fall by one-third until 2030 to achieve a net zero scenario. By reducing the dependence on fossil fuels, the sector can shift towards a just mobility system.
Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) sales are booming, rapidly scaling electric two and three wheelers, cars and vans across markets. Aviation, heavy-trucking and maritime are in the emerging phase of their S-Curve transitions.
By 2030, we must shift Global Aviation and Maritime Shipping to sustainable, zero emission fuels.
We must continue to electrify all Land Transport across vehicles (2/3 wheelers, cars & vans, buses and heavy-duty trucks) and rail systems. We must also leverage operational efficiencies across all modes, manage demand and increase the resilience of transport infrastructure networks and operations. Finally, we must shift to public, shared and non-motorized transport where possible.
Transport Accessibility and Affordability is key to creating healthy, equitable and resilient communities for people and workers.
Explore the Transport 2030 Climate Solutions 2030-Climate-Solutions-Publication-Implementation-roadmap.pdfFrom aviation, resilient, and green shipping to road transport, we are offering a set of solutions to accelerate climate action across all continents through specific real economy and on-the-ground solutions by 2030.

01 September 2024 Transport Climate action in shipping: Progress towards shipping’s 2030 breakthrough (2024 ed.)
This report reviews five ‘system change levers’ across the maritime value chain.
This report reviews five ‘system change levers’ across the maritime value chain and ascertains whether actions across these levers are aligned – or are aligning – with what would be necessary to meet the 5-10% scalable zero emission fuel (SZEF) goal by 2030. At a high level, these levers cover developments in technology and supply; finance; policy; demand; and civil society.

The Breakthrough Agenda establishes an annual cycle to track developments towards these goals, identify where further coordinated international action is urgently needed to accelerate progress and then galvanise action.
The Breakthrough Agenda establishes an annual cycle to track developments towards these goals, identify where further coordinated international action is urgently needed to accelerate progress and then galvanise public and private international action behind these specific priorities in order to make these transitions quicker, cheaper, and easier for all.
