Aya Chebbi, Chair of Nala Feminist Collective, rose to prominence as a voice for democracy and a political blogger during Tunisia’s Revolution in 2010/2011. She served as the first ever African Union Special Envoy on Youth and the youngest diplomat at the African Union Commission Chairperson’s Cabinet (2018 – 2021). She served on the Board of Directors of CIVICUS, World Refugee Council, Oxfam Independent Commission on Sexual Misconduct, Robert Bosch Stiftung Advisory, Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response, among others. She received the Gates Campaign Award and was named in Forbes Africa’s 50 Most Powerful Women.

In this video for the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions, Aya explains why effectively tackling the climate emergency demands greater representation, leadership and participation of women and young people in formal climate decision making processes. As we embark on the 27th COP, she reminds delegates, only those who make “just, equitable, feminist and immediate decisions are remembered.”
